SOUR MILK and Hillary Gao
FISH is an absurd work of playable theater that explores consumption and the pressures that drive it. Players are fish that transform based on what they eat – but conflict emerges when other players appear as predator and prey.

FISH is the latest in SOUR MILK’s social game x interactive theater experiments. Audience members engage with the show both as spectators and as players in a video game, with live performers on stage creating the game ‘world’ in real time through object theater and live feed composition. As player choices affect the ecosystem, performers enact the consequences in real time.
FISH is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
