Join Designated Movement Company in this three-hour workshop as we immerse students in the company practice for making rigorous, complex, and rewarding performance. Working as a group led by artistic directors Katie Rose McLaughlin (choreographer) and Dan O’Neil (playwright), this workshop will share both the company’s collaborative methods and their unique approach for combining dance and theater to make something wholly new and different. We will explore the outer limits of what theater can achieve when freed from text-driven narrative and given informed bodies instead. What happens when text becomes movement and movement becomes text?
This workshop is open to actors, dancers, directors, choreographers, musicians, dramaturgs, designers and anyone intested in how and why we work. Please wear clothes you can move in and socks or barefeet.
