MOMMA! is an evening-length dance theater solo mining codependency in the context of an Asian American mother-daughter relationship. The piece explores inherited trauma; partial memory; and the slippages between safety and primal fear. Sonic ordeal, physical feats of endurance, ambiguous embodiments, gore, and masturbation are interrupted with humor, campy lip syncs, and rigorous physical comedy, propelling the narrative to a climactic encounter between self and (m)other.
CW: This show contains fake blood, masturbation.
